Studying for the Patent Agent Exam in 2 hours a day

  1. Myth 1: You can’t clear the Patent Agent Exam in the first attempt

With just two months of preparation and in her first attempt, scores high on paper 1, clears paper 2 and survives a gruelling 40-minute viva-voce session (39:30) to become a patent agent.

  1. Myth 2: You need lots of time to prepare for the Patent Agent Exam

Like anyone else, Lakshmi had her apprehensions about the Patent Agent Exam (3:20). She starts her preparation after the exam in notified (4:10). Prepares for 2 hours a day (9:00). Believes that more than hours of study, strategy is important (23:40).

  1. Myth 3: Contact classes are critical

A firm believer in face-to-face contact classes, she ends up completely relying on the LexCampus YouTube channel (7:10) and webinars (22:00) to clear the exam.

  1. Myth 4: All Patent Agents are autodidacts

Without undermining the important of self-study, she brings out the need for expert guidance in clearing the patent agent exam. Despite having a degree in law, she feels that reading the bare act alone is not sufficient (10:10) and its interpretation at places is tricky.
